Calcium Carbide for artificial ripening of fruits

ON THE DIRECTIONS OF HON’BLE HIGH COURT OF TELANGANA AND ANDHRA PRADESH , 60 LAKHS SANCTIONED BY TELANGANA GOVERNMENT FOR ESTABLISHING ETHYLENE GAS CHAMBERS FOR RIPENING FRUITS, AT GADDIANNARAM, KOTHAPET FRUIT MARKET, RANGAREDDY DISTRICT, AS A SLOUTION FOR ERADICATING THE HARMFUL PRACTICE OF USING CALCIUM CARBIDE FOR ARTIFICIAL RIPENING OF FRUITS.
The Hon’ble high court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh basing on an article published recently in Eenadu news paper on harmful practice of using prohibited Calcium Carbide for artificial ripening of fruits, has taken up the issue Suo moto as Public Interest Litigation, PIL.NO.219 of 2015.
As a part of solutions YOUTH FOR BETTER INDIA had visited Kothapet fruit market at Rangareddy district and enquired about the use of harmful calcium carbide for artificial ripening of fruits with fruit vendors. Based on the information received at the fruit market YOUTH FOR BETTER INDIA had written a letter to Hon’ble Chief Justice of high court of Telangan and Andhra Pradesh suggesting that the available solution to eradicate use of harmful calcium carbide for fruit ripening is to construct ETHYLENE GAS CHAMBERS, ethylene gas is not harmful to human body and ethylene gas chambers are in use successfully in Mumbai fruit markets.
The Hon’ble High court has asked suggestion on the following question from Amicus Curiae (Court appointed advocate) and from people in general.
1. Which are the major areas in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh where fruits like Mango, Banana, Papaya etc are grown?
2. Whether ETHYLENE GAS chambers should be established at source where the fruits are grown or at retail where the fruits are sold?
3. What part can Municipal bodies play in this issue?
